Discover What’s Under the Surface

At A-Lec Electrics Pty Ltd, our team offers thermal imaging services to residential, commercial and industrial clients within a 150km radius of Townsville. Mechanical thermal Imaging is the examination of temperatures of mechanical devices as they function. The process compares them to other components, identifying hotspots. These exceptions include high friction areas, misalignments and worn areas.

We use expert equipment to uncover and assess issues not detectable to the naked eye— avoiding further deterioration. Mechanical thermal imaging covers a range of components, including:

  • Control panels
  • Sub boards
  • Mechanical service boards
  • Switchboards
  • Professional photogenic reports optional

Advantages of Thermal Imaging

If you're concerned about your electrical infrastructure's stability, it's best to get it professionally assessed before issues worsen. There are many advantages of investing in thermal imaging. These include:

  • A non-destructive approach
  • A thorough look beyond the surface
  • Cost-efficiency by preventing unexpected issues
  • Capability to replace only faulty components
  • Increased safety
  • Reliable data collection via annual inspections

Because many of these issues are unnoticeable before failure, thermal imaging will detect issues that normally fly under the radar until it’s too late.

PAT Testing

PAT stands for Portable Appliance Testing. It involves routine visual and electrical inspections conducted on electrical appliances and equipment to make sure they can be used safely in the workplace and any other environment. In many cases this is a legislative requirement.

Our testing is carried out by our qualified staff using a Wavecom TnP-500X – 20Amp.

This state-of-the-art, fast, efficient instrument gives each item a Pass or Fail and prints bar-coded test tags to make future tracking of items easier. It also stores details of the items, date tested and next test due date. These can be downloaded to produce itemised spreadsheets for our clients’ WHS records.

RCD Testing

A residual current device (RCD/ Safety Switch) is designed to save lives by ensuring that anyone who comes in contact with something live, such as a bare wire or faulty appliance, does not receive a serious electric shock that could prove fatal. An RCD will offer a level of protection that goes beyond a standard fuse or circuit breaker and is worth its weight in gold in preventing electrocution or fire. In Queensland they are now compulsory in all new and renovated buildings and when any modifications are made to existing electrical circuits and installations.

Routine testing of RCDs is strongly recommended and can often be a legislative requirement.

Our RCD testing is efficient and effective. Our high-quality test equipment gives each RCD a Pass or Fail and records the detailed results of the test. These can then be downloaded to provide our client with itemised spreadsheets for their WHS records.
